Resource Description:
1978: The headwaters of Sonoma Creek start high up in the Sugar Loaf
Range. There are natural springs breaking through the earth to form the
canyon. The early Spanish settlers found that Sonoma Creek with its rock
beds upon leaving Adobe Canyon, had no set water course but spread out
and flooded the lowlands, now the site of Kenwood, from where it drained
into Warm Springs Canyon. Growing in the canyon are many of the
California native trees. Sonoma Creek, coming down the canyon, is one of
the most picturesque sites and valuable natural resources in Sonoma
County.
